Capture The Colour 2013

The lovely Cee of Cee’s Photography invited me to participate in a contest that she was invited to join by Shoot n’ Go. Every year Travelsupermarket holds a photo blogging contest and this year it is called Capture the Color 2013. I was thrilled to join as I have never entered a contest for my photography but I have always wanted to. I either miss the deadlines or more often was just too chicken. However because Cee invited me to participate I decided to go for it. I feel like I have already won because a photographer whose talent I respect very much felt I had the right stuff. Thank you Cee!

It was a tough decision so what I did was I picked out 5 photos of each color then had my husband choose and here is what we came up with:

Red

The Indian Paintbrush wildflower dots the craggy , dry landscape of the high desert of Moab, Utah. They are so brilliant it is hard to miss them and the fact they can grow and thrive out of rock attests to their will to survive. they not only survive but they flourish in their brilliance.

Yellow

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the most colorful Collard Lizard one day hiking through the desert and what was so fun was he seemed to know he was especially bright and sat there posing as I took photo after photo of him. That moment was the highlight of my day and a memory I shall always treasure.

Blue

I took this picture of this pretty blue door while I lived on Catalina Island off the coast of California last year. It has remained one of my favorites as it demonstrates the whimsy of the island.

Green

One morning I was walking down a beach in Santa Barbara California and this green stood out like an emerald on a day that was the same color as the beach. It was just beautiful and so alive. I thought this picture in particular captured how much it stood out to me.

White

This is a very recent photograph that I took when I woke up to a surprise first snow in early October. This picture reminds me of one of those Christmas snow scenes and I thought it was a perfect representative of the color white. This is taken in Park City Utah where they are known for The Greatest Snow on Earth.
